Ashton came to IE Project through the local CDEP as a young man living in the town of Timber Creek. He had previously completed a pre-employment program gaining some relevant skills and training – including first aid and traffic control.
Ashton came highly recommended to us as a prospective candidate with great career aspirations and a great work ethic. He was ready to take the next step and join the Keep River Plains project working on remote roadworks toward the Northern Territory / Western Australia border.
Since starting with IE Project as a Trainee, Ashton has progressed in leaps and bounds! He is currently engaged on a FIFO roster working up to 84 hours per week. He has simultaneously completed a Certificate III in Civil Construction – Plant Operations; including tickets for Roller, Grader, Excavator, Loader, Dozer and Moxy.
IE Project facilitated on-the-job training funded by the Northern Territory Government in partnership with host employer, Exact Contracting, and Registered Training Organisation, Batchelor Institute. We believe this process of up-skilling, in the form of formally recognised qualifications, whilst also working in the role, is one of the most valuable benefits we can provide to our trainees. We find the training is much more applicable, because trainees can utilise the knowledge they learn immediately. It’s also much more efficient for the employee and the employer, because the work gets completed at the same time as the training does.
We are very proud of Ashton and the rest of the crew and will continue to support and work with them on their chosen career paths.
